A Vietnamese plywood supplier is ready for Europe when it can hand you the EUDR origin dossier, meet the REACH formaldehyde limit for furniture, supply CE or FSC where your product needs them, and ship to your port on a written build. This guide gives the checklist, the panels each European market buys, the ports and transit times, and how to find the mills that already ship to your country. Minh Thanh Plywood, a furniture plywood factory in Phu Tho, sells mainly to Europe.
Vietnam plywood suppliers for Europe: what makes a mill EU-ready?
Vietnam plywood suppliers for Europe are EU-ready when they can prove origin, emission and quality for each container, not only quote a price. Five points separate a mill that already sells into the EU from one that hopes to.
- EUDR origin dossier: origin records and plot geolocation for the plantation core, with imported faces documented from their country of origin.
- Formaldehyde: low-emission glue and test results that meet the REACH limit for furniture and wood-based articles.
- Certificates in its own name: CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI as accepted emission proof, ISO 9001 for the quality system, CE and FSC where your product needs them.
- A written build: core, ply count, glue, face grade, tolerance, moisture and packing on every quote.
- Shipping and terms that fit EU buyers: one 40HC minimum, FOB, CFR or CIF to your port, deposit and balance against the bill of lading.
This guide goes through each point, then the panels each European market buys, ports and transit times, and how to find the mills.

What does the EUDR mean for plywood from Vietnam?
The EU Deforestation Regulation applies to plywood from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators, and for micro and small operators already under the EU Timber Regulation. The importer who places plywood on the EU market is an operator and files a due diligence statement before customs clearance.
What the mill supplies, and what the importer does:
| Item | Who provides it | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Wood species, common and scientific names | Mill | Core, face and back veneers |
| Country of production | Mill | Vietnam, or the country of imported faces |
| Geolocation of production plots | Mill | Plot coordinates; polygons for larger plots |
| Production dates | Mill | When the wood was harvested |
| Deforestation-free and legality evidence | Mill and importer | No deforestation or degradation after 31 December 2020 |
| Due diligence statement | Importer | Filed in the EU information system before clearance |
Vietnam is classed as low risk under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1093, which allows simplified due diligence when every commodity in the product comes from low-risk countries. Imported face veneers count too, so ask where they come from. The Commission’s due diligence guidance explains the statement and the records an operator keeps.
We supply the EUDR dossier, with origin records and geolocation files, with our orders.
Is there an EUDR certificate?
No official EUDR certificate replaces due diligence. A mill can hand you its dossier and help you prepare the statement, but the statement is yours. Treat any offer of a ready-made “EUDR certificate” with care.

What formaldehyde rules apply to plywood in Europe?
From 6 August 2026, the REACH restriction in Regulation (EU) 2023/1464 limits the formaldehyde that furniture and wood-based articles may release when placed on the EU market. It covers the finished article as well as the panel, so a furniture maker needs panels with headroom.
What to ask a Vietnamese supplier:
- Glue and emission class in writing: furniture plywood uses UF glue at E0 emission.
- Recent chamber results for the product line, with the laboratory and method named.
- A test to the EU method when your customer asks for one; we arrange third-party testing, for example to EN 717-1, through SGS on request.
- No unit conversions: a CARB or TSCA result in ppm is not converted into the EU unit.
Our six ASTM D6007 chamber tests ran from April 2025 to June 2026 on 9, 15 and 18 mm panels, three by Shanghai Hongjun and three by ICTT Vietnam. They averaged 0.014–0.032 ppm. The limit for veneer-core hardwood plywood is 0.05 ppm under CARB Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI, set in 40 CFR 770.10. European furniture buyers accept CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI certification as proof of low emission; our mill number is ICTT 23024.
When does plywood need CE marking or FSC for Europe?
CE marking and FSC answer different questions, and neither applies to every order. CE concerns panels used in construction works; FSC concerns the forest the wood came from.
| Requirement | When it applies | What to ask for |
|---|---|---|
| CE marking (EN 13986) | Panels used in construction works: formwork, flooring, structural sheathing; structural uses fall under assessment system 2+ with a notified body certifying factory production control | Declaration of performance, the use class and the factory production control certificate |
| EN 636 use class | Plywood specified for dry, humid or exterior conditions | The class on the declaration and the bond test behind it |
| FSC chain of custody | When your customer or tender asks for certified wood | The FSC certificate code and the claim on the invoice |
| EUDR dossier | Plywood placed on the EU market from 30 December 2026; 30 June 2027 for smaller operators not under the EUTR | Origin records and geolocation |
| REACH formaldehyde | Furniture and wood-based articles from 6 August 2026 | Test results to the EU method |
FSC and CE are available* for our panels that need them.
*Supplied directly or through qualified partner mills.

Which plywood does each European market buy from Vietnam?
European buyers take Vietnamese plywood for uses where a plantation core and a sharp price per cubic metre beat local panels. The mix differs by market: Germany and the Benelux take furniture and interior panels, Poland takes film-faced plywood, and the UK takes furniture and commercial plywood.
| Market | Panels most often bought from Vietnam | What buyers there ask about most |
|---|---|---|
| Germany, Netherlands, Belgium | Furniture and interior plywood, birch-faced and poplar-faced panels | Emission results, thickness tolerance, EUDR dossier |
| Poland | Film-faced and anti-slip plywood, furniture plywood | Ply count by thickness, core density, film weight, bending strength, slip resistance, CE |
| Italy and Southern Europe | Furniture plywood, often cut to size | Small sizes cut from a full sheet, face grade, packing |
| Nordic and Baltic countries | Furniture plywood on plantation cores, packing plywood | Origin records for due diligence |
| UK | Furniture and commercial plywood | Origin records, emission certification |
Many furniture buyers in Europe choose a Styrax core for its light weight and clean face. An 18 mm Styrax-core sheet weighs about 26.8 kg, against about 34.8 kg on eucalyptus, which also puts more cubic metres in each container.
What about birch plywood for Europe?
Vietnamese mills make birch-faced plywood: imported birch faces on a Styrax or eucalyptus core, graded D+, D and E. All-birch panels come from Baltic, Finnish and Chinese mills. EU measures on wood originating in or exported from Russia and Belarus (Regulation (EU) 2022/576, amending Regulation 833/2014) and anti-dumping duties on Chinese hardwood plywood (Regulation (EU) 2025/2333) are the context in which buyers compare birch-faced alternatives. Our birch plywood comparison explains the difference.
Which Vietnamese plywood exporters ship to the UK?
Vietnamese plywood exporters ship to the UK through the main UK container ports, directly or by transshipment, and the mills to shortlist are those that can show UK bills of lading and importer references. UK buyers apply the UK’s own timber rules under the UK Timber Regulation, so ask for the same origin records an EU buyer would.
Find them the way you would for the EU: customs-based trade data for HS 4412, references from UK importers and distributors, and a registry check on each name. UK buyers mostly ask about furniture and commercial plywood, origin records and emission certification.
Which plywood manufacturers in Vietnam export to Belgium?
Which plywood manufacturers in Vietnam export to Belgium is easiest to answer with trade data, because most EU-ready mills can deliver to Antwerp and do. Antwerp is one of Europe’s main ports for plywood, and Belgian importers and distributors re-sell into Benelux, France and Germany.
How to find the mills already shipping to Belgium:
- Use customs-based trade data to see Vietnamese exporters with shipments of HS 4412 to Belgium.
- Ask Belgian importers and distributors which Vietnamese mills they use and why.
- Check fair exhibitor lists for Vietnamese wood exhibitors at European shows.
- Verify each name on Vietnam’s national business registry and ask for the EUDR dossier sample.
Europe is our main market: we sell FOB Hai Phong, CFR or CIF to your port, and Northern European ports such as Antwerp are typically 30–40 days at sea.
Which plywood manufacturers in Vietnam export to Finland?
Which plywood manufacturers in Vietnam export to Finland depends on the product, because Finland makes its own birch plywood. Finnish and other Nordic buyers usually take Vietnamese panels where a plantation core fits better than birch: furniture and interior panels, packing plywood and LVL.
Points that matter for Finnish and Nordic orders:
- Weight and flatness: a light Styrax core and a calibrated thickness suit furniture lines.
- Origin records: Nordic buyers are thorough on due diligence; ask for the full dossier early.
- Logistics: Finland is typically reached by feeder from a main Northern European port.
- Packing: packs protected against condensation for the longer route.
The same method as for Belgium finds the mills: trade data, importers’ references, fair lists and a registry check.
Which plywood manufacturers in Vietnam export to the Netherlands?
Rotterdam serves the Netherlands and much of Western Europe; Gdansk and Klaipeda serve Poland and the Baltic states. Mills that ship regularly to these ports know the paperwork, and Baltic buyers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania often ask about Vietnamese panels as an alternative supply for furniture and packing.
Which European ports and transit times should you plan for?
Vietnamese plywood for Europe usually leaves from Hai Phong in the north or the Ho Chi Minh City ports in the south. Typical days at sea from Hai Phong, by carrier and route:
| Destination port | Region served | Typical days at sea from Hai Phong |
|---|---|---|
| Rotterdam | Netherlands, Germany, Western Europe | 30–40 days |
| Antwerp | Belgium, Northern France, Benelux | 30–40 days |
| Hamburg | Germany, Nordic feeder services | 30–40 days |
| Gdansk | Poland, Baltic states | 30–40 days |
| Piraeus | Greece, Balkans | 25–35 days |
| Koper, Genoa | Italy, Central Europe | 25–35 days |
Add 15–45 days of production after the deposit, plus booking and loading. A first container planned in one month typically arrives in the second or third month after.

How do you choose a Vietnamese plywood supplier for Europe?
The method is the same as for any market, with the EU checks added. Run it on three to five mills.
- Verify the company on Vietnam’s national business registry and its tax code on the tax portal.
- See the factory on a live video, from the yard to the press and packing.
- Ask for the EUDR dossier sample for the product you want.
- Ask for recent emission results and certificates in the mill’s own name.
- Send a written specification and compare how each mill answers.
- Order samples, keep a signed piece, and test them in your production.
- Place one trial container with inspection before loading.
Our guides on how to choose a plywood supplier in Vietnam and factory or trading company cover the checks step by step.

What documents come with a container to the EU?
An EU-bound plywood container carries the standard export set plus the origin records your due diligence needs.
| Document | What it proves | Who issues it |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial invoice | Goods, price and terms | Mill |
| Packing list | Packs, sheets and volume per specification | Mill |
| Bill of lading | Shipment and title to the goods | Carrier |
| Certificate of origin | Vietnamese origin for customs | Vietnamese authority |
| EUDR dossier | Species, plots, geolocation, dates | Mill |
| Emission certificate and test results | Formaldehyde class | Certifier and laboratory |
| FSC claim on the invoice, where ordered | Certified chain of custody | Mill or partner mill |
| Declaration of performance, where CE applies | Construction use | Manufacturer |
Plywood itself is outside ISPM 15, but solid-wood pallets or battens packed with it are inside it and must be treated and marked.
What does plywood from Vietnam cost delivered to Europe?
The panel price is only part of the landed cost. Our prices start from US$350/m³ for furniture plywood and US$250/m³ for commercial plywood, as of October 2026, FOB Hai Phong (CFR or CIF on request).
To reach a delivered cost per cubic metre, add:
- Sea freight from Hai Phong to your port, divided by the cubic metres in the container.
- Insurance, under CIF or your own policy.
- Destination charges: terminal handling, delivery order, customs clearance.
- Duty and import VAT for your classification.
- Inland transport to your warehouse.
A light core loads more cubic metres per 40HC. A 40HC of 18 mm panels holds about 53 m³ on a Styrax core and about 47 m³ on acacia, which spreads the freight over more panels.

Buyer questions, answered
Which Vietnamese plywood suppliers export to Europe?
Many furniture and commercial plywood mills in Vietnam ship to EU ports every month. Look for mills that can supply the EUDR origin dossier, recent emission test results and certificates in their own name, and check which already ship to your country through trade data or references.
Do I need EUDR documents for plywood from Vietnam?
Yes. From 30 December 2026 (30 June 2027 for micro and small operators not already under the EUTR) an EU importer of plywood is an operator under the EUDR and must file a due diligence statement before customs clearance. The mill supplies the origin records and plot geolocation; Vietnam is classed as low risk, which allows simplified due diligence when every input comes from low-risk countries.
What formaldehyde limit applies to plywood in furniture sold in the EU?
From 6 August 2026 the REACH restriction in Regulation (EU) 2023/1464 limits formaldehyde released by furniture and wood-based articles placed on the EU market. Ask the supplier for a test to the EU chamber method; a CARB or TSCA result in ppm is not converted into the EU unit.
Do I need CE marking for plywood from Vietnam?
CE marking under EN 13986 applies to wood-based panels used in construction works. Furniture plywood bought for cabinets and interiors usually does not need it; formwork, flooring and structural uses usually do.
How long does shipping take from Vietnam to Europe?
From Hai Phong, typical days at sea are 30–40 days to Northern European ports and 25–35 days to the Mediterranean, by carrier and route. Add the production time after the deposit.
Which plywood manufacturers in Vietnam export to Belgium?
Most Vietnamese mills that sell to the EU can deliver to Antwerp, Belgium's main port for plywood. To find the ones already shipping to Belgian buyers, use customs-based trade data, Belgian importers' references and fair exhibitor lists, then verify each mill.
Which plywood manufacturers in Vietnam export to Finland?
Finland makes its own birch plywood, so Finnish buyers usually take Vietnamese panels for different uses: furniture and interior plywood on plantation cores, packing panels and LVL. Finland is typically reached by feeder from a main Northern European port.
Is Vietnamese plywood FSC certified?
Some Vietnamese mills hold FSC chain-of-custody certification, and others buy certified veneer through partners. At Minh Thanh, FSC is available for orders that need it, supplied directly or through qualified partner mills.
What is the minimum order for Europe?
One 40HC container, with several thicknesses or face grades on it by agreement. A 40HC of 18 mm Styrax-core panels at 1220 × 2440 mm holds 990 sheets.
Can Vietnamese mills ship to the UK?
Yes. Main UK container ports are typically served directly or by transshipment. UK buyers apply the UK's own timber rules, so ask for the same origin records an EU buyer would.
